For the pail welder, some supplier on the market boasts of their seam down welder (the so-called invert welder) and deceives customers, in this article, we will explain why seam up, not seam down for conical pail production.
During the welding, it will produce sparks and splashes. For the seam down welder, the welding seam of can body are on the bottom, then the welding dross will falls down onto the surface of welding seam due to gravity, and after the welding, it is the coating process on the welding seam, then the dross will mix will wet lacquer or powder and fix on the welding seam, so the welding seam is dirty and ugly, and when the pails are conveyed to the expanding and flanging station, the welding seam is easy to crack, this will waste of tinplate and cause quality problem on the end market. Then the can maker will be eliminated by the market. So the welding seam made by seam down welder is not stable and beautiful, this is why our customer select seam up welder for pail welder.
For the seam down welder, the tinplate on roll forming station should be placed by flipping front and back, this will increase the labor intensity and scratch the surface of tinplate, this will also waste of tinplate and cause quality problem.
For the seam down welder, the induction curing system also should be designed as seam down, then the induction elements are on the bottom of the welding seam, and during the drying and curing process, droplets are inevitable, then the induction elements will be polluted by the liquid, the whole set of curing system will be dirty and burnout, the durability of induction oven is poor. This will affect the production plan and manufacturing cost of can makers.
For the seam up welder, all the problem mentioned above can be avoided and ensure a smooth production for can makers, this will reduce the production cost and management difficulty, improving production efficiency significantly. Do not believe the swindler to vaunt about their so-called seam down welder.
